This isn’t quite what we mean by “hitting the road.” You won’t find this specific scene along the Copper Country Trail, but you will find a restored, working steam engine from the mining era at the Houghton County Historical Society complex in Lake Linden.

Small shops offering an eclectic mix from rocks to antiques dot the trail from Hancock to Copper Harbor. Natural attractions may appear around the next corner, too. One of the great joys of the area is pulling over on the shoulder and wandering around a small waterfall or enjoying a Lake Superior vista.

The Copper Country has a rich history, scenic beauty and four-season recreational opportunities. Wherever you drive along the Copper Country Trail, you are just minutes from the Lake Superior shoreline, a hiking/biking/ski trail, or an attraction steeped in historical or cultural tradition.
