The Copper Country Trail begins at the Portage Lake Lift Bridge, the only road access to the Keweenaw Peninsula, and follows US-41 north approximately 47 miles to historic Copper Harbor — one of the early centers of copper mining activity, an important port in the startup of the mining industry and Michigan’s northernmost community. A few miles past Copper Harbor you will find the northern terminus of US-41.
The corridor encompasses the Keweenaw Peninsula from coast to coast along this State Heritage Route.
